We have produced a new booklet 'Goats: Introduction to welfare and ownership', to offer advice to novice owners wishing to obtain a small number of goats as companion animals or as smallholding stock. The booklet contains basic guidance on areas such as goat biology, diet, management, health, environmental enrichment, and behaviour. In drawing together the booklet, we took account of recent developments in goat health and welfare science, practical experience, advice from knowledgeable owners and veterinarians, and current legislation.
